Progress in Chronic Disease Prevention IntroductionThis issue of the MMWR introduces a new series of topics, "Progress in Chronic Disease Prevention". This series was prompted by the increasing involvement of public health agencies in chronic disease prevention and control and, specifically, by recommendations from the First National Conference on Chronic Disease Prevention and Control held in Atlanta, Georgia, in September 1986. Articles will appear regularly in the MMWR highlighting progress and advances made in the prevention and control of certain chronic diseases.
