Each year, CDC; other government agencies; and major nonprofit, national cancer organizations cosponsor this month, which is dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Through the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP), CDC supports early detection of breast and cervical cancers through cooperative agreements with health departments in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, five territories, and 13 American Indian/Alaskan Native organizations.
